Verified Reviewer |Resolved: I will never use them again. Absolutely the worst service. If you are able to get them on the phone (not likely), they can't help you.
- - Visa credit for a cancelled reservation was rescinded.
- - Two online chats and four calls failed to help.
- - Filed a dispute with my credit card company.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. The bank resolved it. Do not use.
I had to cancel a hotel reservation and they issued a credit to my Visa. They then rescinded the credit.
It took 2 online chats and 4 phone calls and no one could help. I had to file a dispute w/my credit card company.
The worst service.

Verified ReviewerFlew all the way to Portugal to be turned away from our cruise!
- - A Brazilian visa rule denied us boarding at the port.
- - We spent thousands on extra travel home.
- - Expedia/AARP delays refunds and calls us a no-show.
to know International LawWhen I paid my final payment for a package deal, flights, hotel before the cruise and the cruise itself, a US citizen only needed a passport. On April 10th, 2025, unbeknownst to us a Visa was instituted to enter Brazil.
We flew to Madeira off the coast of Portugal; spent a night there; went to the cruise port early, only to be turned away for not having a Brazilian visa.
It cost us a couple thousand to fly back home.
When I got home, i called AARP EXPEDIA Travel Center. All representatives are from other countries, which makes it very difficult for them to understand a US plight. They are used to Visas between countries. We have travelled extensively and never needed anything other than our passports.
I have a supervisor in the Phillipines looking into getting a refund on the cruise.
She says the cruise shows us as a NO SHOW, which of course, is a lie as we showed up for the cruise only to be truned away. She also says nothing can be done until the cruise is over as MSC will address it then. We paid Expedia AARP Travel, not MSC. They also want to say that it is the pasenger's responsibility to know International Law.
How can that be? If the law changed after I booked the cruise, the cruise and the Travel Center get notified and they have a responsibility to notify customers.
They are not absolved of this as they think. We will never book with them again and will review constantly to make others aware if we do not get a full refund.
- Price is the only pro
- No us representation in customer service and no customer backup
Preferred solution: Full refund
Terrible customer service
- - Refund for a canceled flight took months.
- - Six+ calls and eight+ emails were needed.
- - Bank showed no deposit; another airline refunded in 48 hours.
DON'T USE AARP/EXPEDIA!!! I used Expedia for years and never had a problem.
Last December I made a reservation for a flight through AARP/Expedia that I had to cancel a few months later. Since May I have had at least 6+ phone contacts and at least 8+ emails trying to get my refund. The phone contacts were handled by people with limited English skills. I barely understood and had to ask again and again for repeats.
THIS WAS CONSISTENT (NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT). Note to AARP- older people who start to lose their hearing have trouble with understanding accents. was told a refund was issued and would be in my account at least 4 times. I physically went into my bank twice and they confirmed there was no record of a deposit.
Simple thing...the account that was charged is the account it goes back to. I was told 2 times to contact the airline. They said that they are not paid until you fly- i.e. because I cancelled they never saw my money.
I asked for a supervisor and he told me to contact the airline. I finally contacted AARP and that person was working with Expedia which all involved 6 more emails with Expedia telling me to contact my bank and gave a reference number the bank had no idea about. The last communication from Expedia is they want me to have the bank write a letter saying they haven't received funds (connected to the reference number). This ticket was not a huge amount of money but I live on Social Security and a minimum wage part time job.
Ticket is equivalent to a week's pay for me. I have probably spent the same amount of time trying to get a refund.
I had to cancel flight (same trip) with a different airline and my refund was in my bank in 48 hours. This isn't rocket science- it is incompetence and terrible customer service.
User's recommendation: Don't use AARP/EXPEDIA

Verified ReviewerLack of customer support to resolve an issue
- - Wrong email; no verification.
- - Rebooked with correct email; duplicate charge.
- - Hotel refund; airline and hotel stay insurance non-refundable.
I recently booked a trip through the AARP Travel Center. I apparently entered an incorrect email address, so I got no verification of the booking.
Assuming that the booking did not go thru, I booked the trip again using my correct email address. When I noticed a duplicate charge on my credit card, I immediately reported this to my credit card company and the AARP Travel Center. It took 3 months for me to understand what actually happened. Although the mistake was clearly my fault because I put in an incorrect email address on the first round, I got no help in resolving this issue.
The airline tickets were non-refundable and the insurance that I bought for the hotel stay was also non-refundable. I finally ended up getting back the hotel portion of my trip.
I would caution anyone using the service to be extremely careful about entering correct information and verify before you book your trip. I hope this helps someone.
User's recommendation: Be very careful when using this service to verify all information you enter. Failure to do so can prove very costly.

Verified ReviewerDisappointing Customer Service
- - The site makes it easy to book the wrong date.
- - Corrections incur the full reservation charge.
- - AARP should be ashamed.
Sent a letter to AARP Travel Center Customer Service 10 days ago, in which I recited my experience using the Expedia/AARP website for hotel reservations, and the rude, unhelpful way I was treated. Haven't received any reply, and don't expect to.
I contacted my credit card company and have filed a billing dispute that Expedia/AARP has not yet responded to. They are running a scam targeting senior citizens.
The Expedia/AARP website makes it easy to book the incorrect date. When you call and request a correction, they nail you for the full charge of the reservation, money which they keep.
They are highly motivated to screw customers with how much they earn by doing this.
I will never use them again. AARP should be ashamed.
- Maybe an aarp rate
- Terrible ethics and customer service
Preferred solution: Full refund

I rented a Budget car through AARP and they charged me $300 over quote
- - Quoted $330.99 for Budget rental at Medford; $300 deposit at pickup.
- - Refund promised; Erika said 4-5 days, but no refund by 6/4/25.
I rented a car from Budget 4/8/25 at the Medford Oregon airport. I was quoted a price of $330.99.
When I picked up the car they charged me an extra $300 stating that this was for deposit. I have made numerous phone calls to AARP Expedia each time the agent said they called Budget and they would refund it. My last call on 4/25/25 agent, Erika said I would get a refund within 4-5 business days. It is 6/4/25 and still no refund.
I am on hold again with agent as she reaches out to Budget again. I am seriously considering cancelling AARP there doesn't appear to be a real benefit!
User's recommendation: Don't use AARP car rental.....its a racket

Verified ReviewerProblem with booking a hotel
- - Website kept changing the date during booking; booked 18-19.
- - Hotel says Expedia caused the issue; charged $970.24.
On the evening of 4/17, I booked a room at the Tempo Hilton in NYC for the 18-19. The website kept changing the date to 19-20.
I tried about 15 times to make sure the dates were correct, and when the site finally showed 18-19, I clicked to book. In seconds, the confirmation showed up as 19-20. I called the hotel, and they said it was Expedia's problem and charged me for the room and a fee totaling $970.24.
I tried to contact Expedia and couldn't get anything done online. I have spent many days emailing and calling Expedia and am told, 'too bad.' It is the hotel policy, although Expedia made the mistake.
- Lower prices
- When the travel center makes a mistake they wont fix
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerPre paid a cab to and from the airport. The cab got the time wrong and Expedia changed it to the correct hour--or NOT. They came 3 hours early, didn't come at the appointed time. No refund.
- - Expedia guaranteed the problem was fixed, but it wasn't.
- - I paid for a second cab after a 3-hour wait during a 10-1 window to avoid missing my flight.
I have photos of the transaction with Expedia where I was guaranteed that she had fixed the problem. Nope.
I got to pay for a second cab so we didn't miss our flight. I used the chat option, presented proof, and was told that there was a window between 10 and 1 that I was supposed to be ready and wait for the cab. For 3 hours. Really?
The original Expedia agent said my cab driver would be there at 1! So, I am out money and almost missed my flight.
- Cheap prices
- No customer service-will not take proof of their mistakes
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Find a different travel company. If you have a complaint, they will NOT help you.
Still trying to get the $50 gift card for booking a package. Expedia phone center is a joke-foreign born employees paid to lie. Cannot believe this is happening to me
Wait on phone has averaged 30 minutes as they check. Promise I will receive the card next week. Feels like I am dealing with a scam company
User's recommendation: Don’t believe you will get a $50 gift card as promised

- - Pictures did not match the property.
- - Night staff were rude and not helpful; room had roaches.
- - Deposit was kept $30 for towels.
I feel this property should not be an option. The pictures were nothing like what was shown.
But it was the staff the night lady was so rude and not helpful at all my room had roaches in it I wanted another room but was going to be charged.
She kept $30 of my deposit because she said my towels were dirty and had to be thrown away. It was a disgusting place

- - I have been calling daily since Mar 11 with no assistance or callbacks.
- - On Mar 13 I am on my 4th call; calls cut off after 15 minutes with no callback.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. None!
Since Mar 11, I called the customer service number every day w/o any positive assistance.
Today, Mar 13, I am into my 4th call with a different representative. The calls seem to be cut off after 15 mins and theres no call backs despite the request to confirm my contact number.
Currently, over 20 mins into the holding pattern!

Verified ReviewerI am giving it no stars because it has only caused me trouble and stress to use it.
- - Booked via travel center; changes allowed.
- - There were long holds and one hang-up before changes.
- - Took multiple calls and about an hour to complete.
I booked a flight through their travel center. The airline allows changes.
When I called, it took hours and hours; long hold times, one guy hanging up on me, saying he couldn't make changes. I called back, getting put on hold several times and for very long periods of time. She finally got the flight changed, but this took about another hour. I realized it was not this person's fault; it was the way the call center was run.
I asked to talk to a supervisor. He could hardly even speak English. This amount of stress is more than I want or that I feel I should have to deal with. I wish I could get out of AARP..
They do a lot of advertising of their benefits. I haven't found anything useful, just a lot of clutter of advertising.
User's recommendation: Do not use this service, unless you like this kind of stress, or are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on luxury vacations and fancy hotels, which is what they advertise. I cannot afford this kind of stuff and am not interested in it. I've not found anyplace where I get any actual discounts or benefits through AARP.

Verified ReviewerI was given incorrect information about Parking being free
- - Cambria LAX El Segundo booking.
- - Expedia/AARP said free parking for handicap placards.
- - Hotel charged parking fees at check-in.
- - No booking statement copy received.
I booked the Cambria LAX El Segundo California. AARP EXPEDIA customer service stated parking was free for Handicap placard holders.
I checked into the hotel and they "scam" you for parking fees $$$. I complained or tried to Expedia customer service= response too bad no access to complain. AARP Expedia is a 3rd party booking platform and will not save you $.
I also I never received a copy of my booking statement. Aa

- - I am on the 4th call and have waited 11+ minutes.
March 12, 2024 at 2:00 EST, In past hour, Ive 4 separate calls related to a reservation. Each time, I am put on hold, calls dropped without any resolution nor any effective call backs. Currently, on the 4th and 11+ minutes into waiting

Flight change not reflected in my itinerary
The phone answering person could not help me so I called American Airlines directly and asked for a supervisor who upgraded my ticket and changed the return flight time.
User's recommendation: Go directly to American Airlines to schedule flights. They offer the same discounts and changes are possible.
